If you’ve ever wondered what happens when passion collides with madness, the American Theatre of Actors has the answer. “Crazy Love,” a riveting new play by the brilliant Charlotte Meehan, is the talk of the town. Featuring themes of romantic betrayal, philosophical ramblings, and juicy reversals, this comedic exploration of love triangles brings Celine, Tom, and Augustus to life in the most unexpected ways. But hurry—this is the final weekend to catch this unforgettable production. Can these three forge a future where there are no losers, only winners? Don’t miss your chance to find out.

The characters of the “Crazy Love” triangle are nothing short of big characters! The cast, featuring Joanna Stone, Bennet Ferguson, and Travis Bergmann brings these emotional individuals to life with ease.
The center of this love triangle is the charming, witty, and sometimes mischievous Cecile. Joanna Stone describes her part as the center of action, and she allows the storyline to unfold around her while indulging the audience in physical comedy.
The opposing spokes of the triangle are Augustus and Tom. Augustus, being a sincere man, pursues what he has his heart set on without question. Bennett Fergusen tells us this character naturally inspired him to reflect on what areas of his life might benefit from a bit more vulnerability. His character has already inspired the same vulnerability in his audience, receiving high praise for its touching story and relatability.
Both the director and playwright had a vision of physicality and expression for this play. Surely, they have not fallen short! Director, Emma Schwartz, describes this show as a “spectacle” of physical comedy, with an understanding of the darker context they are operating. She tells us “Though we laugh with the three characters, maybe the audience will still feel a sting of sadness for the co-dependent antics.”
“Crazy Love” marks Charlotte Meehan’s first production with the American Theatre of Actors, a safe haven for beginner playwrights, actors, and directors alike. ATA was founded over 45 years ago with the mission of providing a creative atmosphere and promoting artistic expression without the pressures of commercial theatre. Close to a thousand new works have been presented at ATA in the time since!
Charlotte tells us that ATA has stood by its mission in welcoming her with open arms. “It’s been a very positive experience. Excellent directors and actors, friendly and accommodating staff, and a charming black box theatre.” She also tells us that she received some critical notes from her director and that their collaboration was impressive considering this production is their first time working together. It seems to many that this director knew exactly which parts of this script to accentuate and the best way to do it!
