This was one of the most visually emotional art exhibits I’ve ever seen.
I was expecting more sexual expressions, given it was an LGBTQ exhibition, but I was joyously surprised by the range of emotions oozing from the canvases.
There was a lot of rage, confusion, despair, but also peace and tranquility. The abstract pieces are bolder, with blotches of colors and shapes sticking out from the pictures, like the long-oppressed finally breaking free. I feel it’s the authentic expressions of participating artists relating to their LGBTQ experiences.

The biggest piece takes up an entire wall, comprising images of faces showing a wide variety of images, contoured by bright red lines. I posted a picture titled “never faggette girldick” on Instagram and captioned it as “I don’t know why it speaks to me, it just does”. The artist hit the like button and reposted it. A truly wondeful and visually stunning experience, accompanied by a crowd in colorful clothing and some great snacks–a perfection reflection of the title “Engagement: The Importance of Being Engaged”.
