Louis Lopardi has spent a decade and a half bringing high-quality work to one of the better off-off Broadway houses. He, along with All Out Arts, celebrate – through the lively arts – what it means to be LGBTQ in NYC!

This year, the chorus of brilliance is well-worth discussion. OuterStage will speak with some of the featured authors at this year’s festival. All performances take place at the air-conditioned Wild Project, 195 E. 3rd St. (btwn Avenues A & B) in the East Village. Tickets to all productions are $18 at web.ovationtix.com/trs/cal/527.

I’m opposed to war … but not warriors.

Patrick Thomas McCarthy is a warrior.

His press agent sent me reams of info. This guy has something to say and knows how to make sure it’s heard!

First, CUSTODY has a Hatchfund campaign. To learn more, visit:

Next, he gets to the meat of the 21st century with a comedy of 90s Gay-Manners:

I LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE … IF YOU WERE JUST LIKE HIM!

CUSTODY OPENS THE 15TH ANNUAL ALL OUT ARTS FRESH FRUIT FESTIVAL ON MONDAY JULY 10TH AT 8PM AT THE WILD PROJECT NYC, FESTIVAL HEADQUARTERS.

13256086_10209681228089538_3839116580291803555_nIn CUSTODY, by award-winning playwright Patrick Thomas McCarthy, three men pursue one woman… and each other … for CUSTODY of their memories, photo albums, and their children. CUSTODY depicts the hot-button topic: straight women who love gay men and the straight men who love the straight women but try to be more like gay men to get the straight women to love them back.

CUSTODY asks the question of who’s in or out of the closet.

Commander Patrick Thomas McCarthy returns to the Fresh Fruit Festival with another season opener (Fresh Fruit Festival Outstanding Playwright 2012 for PRIDE RIVER CROSSING & 2013 for sExtOrtiOn). I guess Lopardi knows to open big!

Next, he’s out there pounding the pavement getting sponsors and interest. You go!

Now, what’s inside this engine?

Patrick, what inspires you as an artist?
The idea of legacy, leaving something of worth behind when I shed the mortal coil.

Sounds like you got the corporate machine well-in-hand, why independent theater?

It is the place that offers opportunity without the major irritant of high finance.  Is the only value of an idea or piece of art,  its monetized value?

As a self-taught soldier of arts fortune, how has the landscape of indie theater changed over the years/decades? And has it changed for any group more than another (Broadway World pointed out a increase in older women playwrights and producers in OOB, as an example)

My seat of the pants training was in community theatre.  The OOB scene mirrors the realities of DIY, less resources than really needed, relying on super efforts by a select few whether they have the talents or not.  Certainly gay themed theatre has found an expansion in indie theater.

Your lead looks like my old cabbage-patch doll. I’ll be in the audience cheering her on.
