With no talk of any serious issues or topics (or so you think) the Art Of Acting: A Master Class With Fozzie Bear is a production for laughing and pure enjoyment. Both written and performed by Larry Phillips who has received awards for playwriting and acting from the New York Theater Festival and planet connections theater festival. The director of the production is Ben Liebert and the stage manager is Amanda Briskin Wallace. The production proudly supports The Actors Fund, a caring community that helps performing arts in times of need, crisis, and transition.
I loved this production and had a smile on my face the entire time. It was obvious that the audience enjoyed the production. I think what really made it so enjoyable was seeing the actor interact with the audience and watching as the audience went up on stage. The actor also interacted with the stage manager which i found to be funny. It also made me think. At which point Phillips’ math kicked in and a lesson about the industry pervaded. While it might be geared more to those who remember the Muppets, the concept of a puppet talking of what it means to work in Hollywood … that will be understood by all. Phillips wrote a masterful piece and then gave us a joyous and engaging performance. Encore, Foz, Encore!
